Sensei sam holder

I was fortunate to meet Sensei Chris Clifford during the summer of 1987. I was introduced to him by my then girlfriend who was a nanny for his children.

I learnt that Chris was practicing karate and asked if I could become a student. 

I started practicing with Sensei Clifford in the summer of 1989 and was honoured to be a part of his new dojo in Bromley.

I met sensei Kiyoshi Yonemoto in the summer of that year also on one of his many visits to Sensei Clifford’s house.

Sensei Clifford invited me to go to Tokyo and meet Sensei Ichikawa, that was a trip that inspired me to learn more.

Sensei Ichikawa gave me my 1st dan at the end of the trip to which I was honoured. 

I continued with Sensei Chris at his dojo in Bromley and have been lucky enough to visit and practice in his dojo in Thailand on 2 occasions.

I was presented with my 5th dan in 2021 and received the Bubishi in the same year.
